There could only be one!  That's not quite true, given there have been previous Highlander films and spin-offs, but the impending reboot, fronted by former Superman actor Henry Cavill, is probably the biggest reason yet to break this rule.  However, after what feels like an eternity, we are still waiting for information on John Wick creator Chad Stahelski's revival, with nothing announced at CinemaCon.  Fans are now alarmed, flocking to social media to express their concerns after learning that, instead of Highlander, Stahelski would reunite with Keanu Reeves for John Wick 5.

X/Twitter user @SpacewaySurf was quick to express dismay, stating, "im never getting the highlander remake," while @joshharding77 lamented the status of the industry, adding, "Highlander is dead."  There was not a single update regarding it at CinemaCon.  And Chad will be trapped producing John Wick films for the rest of his career.  You're killing these auteurs with so much potential in real time, bro.

Others would want to see Highlander finally appear, and are upset to find that John Wick will return after the last scenes of Chapter 4.  "Give me the Highlander.  "John Wick has his sunset; they should leave it," tweets @Z0MBKLR.  Meanwhile, @GraemeHarwell has an intriguing theory: "Predicting that Chad Stahelski and crew are turning Highlander into John Wick 5."  Finally, it appears that action fans are simply saddened to see Stahelski "trapped in a hell of his own making," as @VashKohime phrased it.  "dude he's been wanting to do that Highlander remake since Wick 1 came out, he needs to just go do it already," they went on.

Henry Cavill's Fans have been waiting a long time.

Fans have been waiting a long time for the Highlander revival, directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Henry Cavill.  While details are being kept under wraps, the Highlander reboot is believed to follow a similar premise to the 1986 original, which follows swordsman Connor MacLeod as he realizes he is one of a number of immortal warriors who can only be slain through beheading.  After living happily for several millennia, MacLeod settles in New York City and is quickly forced back into the war when his greatest nemesis returns to murder him and therefore get "the Prize."

Henry Cavill, star of Man of Steel and The Witcher, will lead the reboot, and he has already stated that the film will dive far "deeper" into the mythos of the immortal warriors than any prior iteration of the property.  "That sense of a tragic warrior with a story to tell, rather than just a nice man with a good sword doing cool stuff.  "And this goes even deeper into that," he joked.
