This year's Cinema Con has been a delight for DC lovers. In addition to showing off new video from James Gunn's Superman and bringing the film's actors to the stage, attendees were treated to the first footage from the DCU's most ambitious and unique project to date Dynamic Duo. The new picture, which was revealed in December last year, will center on Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, the first two Robins under Batman. We knew the film would have an exceptionally unusual style of animation, and those attending Cinema Con got to see it firsthand.

DCU's Robin Movie Debuts Gorgeous First Footage |
Following Warner Bros.' presentation at Cinema Con, online reports revealed what video from Dynamic Duos had been released. The clips were part of a larger sizzle trailer for Warner Bros. Animation. According to @TheMoviePodcast, the video shows the Batmobile crashing through a pillar and one of the Robins (believed to be Dick Grayson) traveling on the subway. The footage revealed little in terms of narrative. However, all of the reports emphasized the spectacular and "gorgeous" animation.
In previous interviews, James Gunn mentioned that he wants characters in the DC Universe to be able to roam freely across mediums (such as live-action and animation). But few expected it to happen in the same film. When the film was first announced, it was reported that Swaybox, a relatively new puppetry firm, will be making it in collaboration with DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. The film will apparently use a combination of animation, puppetry, and CGI. Unfortunately, viewers will have to wait a bit to watch the full film. Puppetry on film takes longer to shoot than animation. As a result, Dynamic Duos is currently set to hit theaters on June 30, 2028.
Who are Dick Grayson and Jason Todd from the DC Universe?
If you've ever read a Batman comic or dabbled in the DC Animated Universe, you'll recognize the names Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. However, both characters have yet to be given the representation they deserve on the big screen. Dick Grayson made his film début in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, with Chris O'Donnell playing him. But that is probably best forgotten.
In the comics, Dick Grayson was the original Robin. Growing up in a touring circus, his parents were killed by a Gotham City crime boss during one of their shows. In attendance, Bruce Wayne took Grayson in and eventually volunteered to teach him as Robin. Grayson later went on to become his own superhero, Nightwing. Batman caught Jason Todd stealing the Batmobile's rims. Instead of assaulting the youngster, Batman bought him food, learnt about his orphaned upbringing, and offered to take him in. Following a stunning turn of events involving The Joker, Jason Todd transformed into the vigilante Red Hood.
Fans have been waiting years to see Dick Grayson and Jason Todd on the big screen. In addition to starring in Dynamic Duos, they are both scheduled to appear in The Brave and the Bold, which will debut Batman into the DC Universe.
